standintheblackHis ankles and shins are sore from how hard River's been kicking him under the table any time he glances at Kaylee or at Lloyd. He'd thought he was being clear enough, with the way he touches them, the conversations he has with them. He feels lighter, more at ease with them than he does the rest of the crew (no counting River).
Funnily enough, it's Inara who broaches the subject; she'd pulled him aside one day and told him to stop being foolish about things. That not everyone can read minds, and some things need to be said out loud.
And so Simon resolves to talk to them both. Separately feels less intimidating, so he decides to just -- talk to whichever one of them he finds first. Which happens to be Lloyd.
"Oh -- hey, um." He gives Lloyd a nervous smile and waves a little, then immediately regrets waving a little. "Sorry, but um. Do you have a few moments to talk? Just the two of us?"
